Join us at the REAL Trust's Annual Leadership Conference

2019-10-10

We’ll be at the Rochdale Education and Learning (REAL) Trust’s Annual Leadership conference in early November and we’d be delighted to see you there!

With a set of talks over two days on 7 and 8 November at Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa in Blackburn, expect a distinct focus on leadership and management in education.

The Trust supports schools across Greater Manchester, providing many development opportunities for staff to refresh and update their skills.

Alongside the conferences, school leaders can also access training courses and numerous learning groups that concentrate on aspects such as governance, collaboration and curriculum development.

The main talks – what to expect

Three main talks, two on Thursday and one on Friday morning, form the crux of the REAL Trust’s Annual Leadership conference, exploring topics on behavioural management, effective school leadership and culture building.

The first of these from Dave Whitaker will look into the importance of understanding and knowing children in a school to shape approaches and behaviour management.

As a principal for several special schools, alternative provision schools and pupil referral units in the East and North of England, he is running a session, titled ‘Feeling scared every day and not feeling loved will change me for the rest of my life’.

In the afternoon, Sir Tim Brighouse will explore some of the challenges that are facing schools and will discuss how creative approaches can yield positive results.

The inspirational speaker’s session, titled ‘Courageous and creative school leadership in difficult times’, comes from a man that has spent nearly 60 years in the education sector.

The final session, ‘Unlocking the DNA of a winning culture’ from Professor Damian Hughes will explain how to generate cohesion and cooperation in schools to build a successful working environment.
