Life as a newly qualified teacher can be daunting, but it also brings with it many rewards that make the challenges worthwhile.
Fortunately, there is an abundance of resources available to support NQTs as they wade through their first year of teaching.
From guidance on lesson planning and marking techniques to other means of support and help with maintaining a healthy work-life balance, here are some of the most useful…
Tes (Times Education Supplement)
With resources available to support NQTs with the key parts of the role, Tes is a useful tool for those needing planners, diaries, marking stickers and a host of other handy ideas.
Most resources can be accessed for free or for a small fee, giving NQTs the essentials they may need.
Twinkl
With several NQT starter packs, checklists and other resources, Twinkl has downloadable tips and guidance for those embarking on their primary or secondary level teaching journey.
Checklists can be an invaluable resource as you look to put your training into practice, while there is also guidance on how to create a classroom environment that can be beneficial to children’s learning.
Other guidance for NQTs on behaviour management and on overcoming some of the initial challenges of the role is also available.
Teach Primary
Some further tips for newly qualified teachers on everything from preparation and planning to overcoming nerves can be found at Teach Primary.
When it comes to knowing the essentials for that first day in a new school setting, it’s exactly what an NQT needs.
Gov.uk
The official government website is another go-to resource for any NQT, as it contains key information relating to the induction process in schools and what to expect.
This can be key, as you can then know what criteria you are being judged against throughout your NQT induction year.
