British Science Week resources for 2022

2022-03-11

British Science Week acts as a celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), and provides an opportunity for teachers to embrace new and exciting topics.

Spanning ten days from 11th March 2022, the theme for this year is 'growth’ and having grown in size year on year, it is thought that over one million pupils across all educational age groups are set to take part.

The annual celebration is designed to inspire teachers and to provide a platform for them to inspire the scientists, mathematicians and engineers of tomorrow.

British Science Week is supported by a number of high profile organisations, including the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), science firm 3M and the Guinness Book of Records.

For 2022, British Science week will be represented both in and out of the classroom, with many activities created to help promote the benefits of being involved in science. The organisers are encouraging participants to take part in activities and for teachers to create some exciting lessons that their students can take part in.

British Science Week has a range of resources available, including activity packs, to help both primary and secondary school teachers.

In a bid to provide an inspiring set of projects and challenges, the packs include scientific activities that can be done both in the classroom and at home – such as mummifying an orange and creating time capsules.

Teachers are encouraged to use the ideas for inspiration and to modify them to suit their own needs in the classroom. They are also hosting a poster competition which you have until the 15th April 2022 to submit.
