Don’t have qualifications

Every nursery is different, some will be looking for qualified candidates, and others will be open to unqualified candidates. If you don’t have any higher qualifications, then you will need a strong background of good GCSE results and work experience within the childcare sector to prove that you have hands-on experience.

Requirements to work as a Nursery Nurse

• Grade A* - C in GCSE level qualifications, particularly for the core subjects such as Maths and English.
• Valid work experience in childcare with children and infants under the age of five.
• A criminal record check called a DBS check will be carried out, and you must pass to be able to work with children.

Having basic qualifications or the relevant work experience are two attributes on your CV that employers in nurseries will be looking for.
