HomeTermly Update | Winter 2025

A word from our CEO

This term, schools across the country continue to feel the strain of rising costs, increasing pupil needs, and the everyday demands of running a classroom. At Tradewind, our priority remains the same: to offer more support, more expertise, and more value - especially when pressures on staff and budgets are only growing.

The government’s new Every Child Achieving and Thriving white paper sets out significant reforms to SEND and mainstream provision. While the detail is extensive, the message for schools is clear: change is coming, and preparation will be essential. Our dedicated SEND consultants are already supporting schools across the country with their specialist staffing needs, and they are ready to support you to navigate these changes.

Alongside these system‑wide reforms, the sector continues to grapple with ongoing challenges around teacher retention, which we have been addressing in our recent work.

With SEND responsibilities increasing and expectations for adaptive teaching rising, CPD has never been more important. The white paper’s emphasis on improving teacher expertise echoes what we’re already seeing on the ground - ongoing development will be central to helping teachers feel confident, equipped, and supported as reforms take shape.

That’s why we’ve continued to invest in the areas that make a meaningful difference. Through our partnership with The National College, every Tradewind candidate has free access to comprehensive CPD and training, ensuring they can continually develop their practice without adding costs to your school.

As you navigate both the daily realities and the reforms ahead, we’re here to support you whenever you need us.
