Position Available: Autism Support Teaching Assistant (EYFS/KS1)

Are you looking for a fulfilling and impactful role where you can truly make a difference in the lives of young children? Tradewind Recruitment is excited to announce an opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join our outstanding primary school in East Hull. This role will be specifically focused on providing support within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) classes, catering to the unique needs of children with autism.

Start Date: After Easter until July

Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: £80-£95 per day, in accordance with TA pay scales

As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with a pupil who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and anxiety, playing a crucial role in facilitating their academic and personal development journey. Collaborating with the classroom teacher and our dedicated team, you will devise and implement personalized learning plans tailored to meet the specific needs of the pupil.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with ASD and anxiety, both within the classroom and in various learning environments.
  • Developing and executing individualized learning strategies in alignment with the pupil's educational requirements, in collaboration with the classroom teacher and other school staff.
  • Monitoring the pupil's progress and communicating effectively with the teacher and parents/guardians regarding their development.
  • Cultivating a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere that fosters the well-being and growth of the pupil.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with ASD and anxiety, preferably within an early years or primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and accommodations necessary for pupils with SEND.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach towards supporting children with SEND, ensuring their holistic development and well-being.
  • Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals.
  • Enhanced DBS check clearance (or willingness to undergo one).
