Sanza Teaching Agency is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate BSL Teaching Assistant on behalf of a vibrant and friendly primary school situated in the heart of the London Borough of Sutton. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team committed to providing an inclusive and enriching educational environment.

Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to students with hearing impairments and ensuring their inclusion within the classroom setting. As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with both students and teaching staff to facilitate effective communication and promote learning opportunities tailored to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with hearing impairments, utilizing British Sign Language (BSL) where necessary.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt and differentiate learning materials to accommodate the needs of sight-impaired students.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies to promote student progress and development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to achieve their full potential.
  • Liaise with external specialists and support services to ensure that students receive comprehensive and holistic support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with sight-impaired individuals, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting student learning and development.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in BSL or special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous.
