Position: Cover Supervisor
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Salary: Paid to scale
Start Date: September 2024
School Rating: Ofsted 'Good'
Key Stage: Primary or Secondary Level
Behavior: Excellent behaviour among students

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee classes in the absence of regular teachers, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment
  • Implement pre-prepared lessons and activities following the teacher's guidelines
  • Manage classroom conduct and enforce school policies regarding behaviour and discipline
  • Provide assistance and guidance to students as necessary to support their learning progress
  • Monitor student engagement and participation during lessons, relaying feedback to the teacher upon their return
  • Handle administrative duties like attendance taking and material distribution as required
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and support colleagues to maintain continuity in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Report on student behaviour and performance to the teacher upon their return

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support lunchtime supervision and contribute to student welfare initiatives
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events to enrich the student experience
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Uphold and promote a positive school culture by demonstrating respectful behaviour and attitudes

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a school environment preferred but not mandatory
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students and staff
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work across different subjects and age groups
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and follow instructions
  • Dedication to supporting student learning and well-being
