A fantastic opportunity has presented to work for a well-known single-form entry school in the heart of Stalybridge, Tameside. This KS2 role is a maternity cover on a fixed term contract from September until July 2025. The school are offering an attractive salary paid to scale between £160-£210 per day for the successful candidate, unfortunately on this occasion, the schools is unable to consider ECT's.

As the KS2 teacher, you will be working in a 'Good' school in a beautiful area of Stalybridge, Tameside. This school has an extraordinary charm and ethos which holds the children at the heart of all decisions and educates children from diverse backgrounds.

Headed up by an experienced Headteacher and leadership team, this is a wonderful place to work where staff are friendly, supportive and share a similar vision to promote positive change. Staff have high expectations of children, especially in attendance and behaviour which naturally impacts greatly on achievement and have established strong relationships with families and the local community.

KS2 Teacher

As the KS2 teacher, you will be responsible for a class of approximately 30 children with the majority of the class meeting age related expectations. There is a small % of SEND and a full-time teaching assistant to support with learning interventions.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Undertake full class teaching responsibilities for a KS2 class including planning and delivering exciting lessons that link to real life scenarios and prepare pupils for modern society
  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the KS2 curriculum and plan targeted interventions to bridge gaps and support pupils not meeting expectations
  • Teach a creative curriculum utilising a range of approaches that cater for visual, audio and kinaesthetic learning preferences including the use of ICT to keep up-to-date with the tech-savvy world in which we live
  • Make use of both the indoor and outdoor learning environment and provide activities that support continuous provision allowing children to explore and take risks
  • Use formative and summative assessment strategies to review, report and reflect on daily practice
  • Liaise with the SENDCO to report on pupil progress and EHCP plans in relation to where pupils are in terms of meeting, achieving and/or exceeding targets.
  • Communicate effectively with parent/guardians to keep them informed of individual pupil behaviour, homework and school events
  • Contribute to extra-curricular clubs utilising your area of expertise and attend wider school events in the local community.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold QTS Certification (or an equivalent teaching qualification from overseas)
  • Have experience teaching in a KS2 setting
  • Be available from September and be able to commit for the duration of the role
  • Be able to provide two recent teaching references which demonstrate excellent practice in KS2
  • Be subject to an enhanced DBS check and overseas police check (if applicable)
  • Provide a CV covering the last 10 years employment with no gaps and provide 2 suitable references from your most recent roles in education.
  • Have a right to work in the UK
