Tradewind are recruiting for an SEMH Teacher!

Have you taught young people at secondary age with challenging behaviours?
Do you have experience teaching pupils a range of subjects?

Are you resilient, empathetic, patient and able to differentiate your teaching?

We are looking for a Secondary SEMH Teacher for a full time & long term supply placement that could eventually turn permanent at a secondary alternative provision in the High Peak area.

Pay up to £200/day.

To join us and be successful in this SEMH Teacher role, you will need to:

  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one)
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
  • Min. of 2 professional references.
  • Provide a CV with a full history.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Have QTS or QTLS.
  • Ability to cover a range of subjects.

The job:


*Any subject specialim will be considered for this SEMH Teacher role*

They offer Maths, English, PSHE, Food, Citizenship, Science, DofE etc so they will look at any suitable candidates and see where they could fit you into the timetable.

As an SEMH Teacher you may be asked to cover subjects from time to time that are not your specialism.

Some lesson plans are already there but over time you will need to build your own, you will need to monitor progress and differentiate your work to the individual needs of each pupil while building strong relationships with pupils based on honesty, consistency and mutual respect. You will need to manage behaviour and support pupils with social and emotional development as well.

The school:


This alternative education provision caters for young people aged 11-16 with SEMH needs and all are permex or at risk of exclusions.

They have strong links to other schools and APs in the trust as well as local community organisations, parents and other professionals.

The pupils:


All pupils are aged 11-16 and have an EHCP for SEND including Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and challenging behaviours. Some of the young people have associated needs such as ADHD, Attachment Disorder, ODD or Autism.


While sometimes challenging, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference to young people with obstacles to learning and those from less fortunate backgrounds while learning new skills.
