This is a unique opportunity to work with an OFSTED rated Outstanding Secondary SEN School in Ealing. What makes it unique is the school's ethos and core values; a rights respecting school that provides an innovative personalised curriculum through holistic supports and an active community base.

Students at the school are 11 to 19 years of age and require support with severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many students also have complex medical conditions, severe communication disorders, bi-modal sensory impairment and challenging behaviours. The school is organised into three phases, ASD (autistic spectrum disorders), SLD (severe learning difficulties) and PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties).

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of SEN pupils and be passionate about supporting pupils to develop the skills needed for an inclusive and active adult life. The school's curriculum is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the priority areas in development such as communication, cognition, self-care and independence. Teachers engage students through play and sensory exploration. The second part is a life skills curriculum, including areas such as functional skills (literacy and numeracy), daily living skills, work related learning, healthy life styles and technology. The focus is to facilitate the transition to life beyond school successfully; growing students' confidence and independence.

You will join a well-qualified and highly experienced team who specialise in meeting the teaching and learning needs of secondary aged students with SLD, PMLD, ASD. Part of this expertise lies in understanding the development of each child, particularly as they pass through puberty, and into the teenage years in preparation for the opportunities and challenges of their future adult lives.

The school make significant investment training all staff and the team has expertise in many areas including, positive behaviour management, Intensive Interaction, Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), PODD, TEACCH, Team Teach, Rebound Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Visual and Hearing impairment, multi-sensory approaches to learning, meeting the needs of students with complex medical conditions, postural management and moving and handling.

The SEN Teacher would:
*Be experienced with SEN Support and have skills in positive behaviour management, Intensive Interaction, Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
*Be Team Teach trained (preferred)
*Teach using a specialised curriculum across P Levels 1-3 or P Levels 4-7
*Benefit from a forward thinking, inclusive and respectful work environment that promotes the highest standards of professionalism
*Work alongside a highly skilled specialist team with numerous training opportunities

The school:
*Has around 100 pupils aged 11-19 years
*Class sizes of 5-9 pupils
*Caters for pupils with SLD, PMLD, or a dual diagnosis of ASD/SLD or ASD/PMLD
*Teaches 10 'informal classes' for students working at P Levels 1-4
*Teaches 3 'semi-formal classes' for students working at P Levels 4-7
*Speech therapy, occupation therapy, music therapy and physiotherapy
*Part-time school nurse, social worker as well as visiting dietician, audiologist and dentist
*Excellent success with all pupils going into post 19 placements and no pupils Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
