Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Bedford
Salary: Paid to scale
Start Date: September 2024
School Rating: Ofsted 'Good'
Key Stage: Primary or Secondary Level
Special Education Needs (SEN): Experience with SEN students preferred
Behavior: Excellent behavior among students

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for SEN students
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to SEN students, reinforcing learning concepts and helping with tasks as needed
  • Collaborate with other support staff and outside professionals to meet the diverse needs of SEN students
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of students' progress and interventions

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN students is preferred but not essential
  • Patient, compassionate, and empathetic approach to supporting students with special needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of SEN students and the classroom environment
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to undergo any necessary training or professional development related to SEN support
