SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support for Non-Verbal Child with ASD (Islington Primary School) - September 2025 Start

An inclusive and welcoming Primary School in Islington is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The child is non-verbal and requires a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment to thrive.

Key Details:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support to help the pupil access the curriculum and develop social skills

  • Implement strategies to support communication, behaviour, and sensory needs

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

  • Track and report progress in line with EHCP targets

  • Create a nurturing and positive environment to support the child's emotional wellbeing

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD, particularly non-verbal learners

  • Familiar with visual aids, sensory resources, and communication tools like PECS or Makaton

  • Calm, patient, and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for SEN education

  • Able to commit to the full academic year
