Support Assistant - Hearing Impaired Children and Young Adults
Location: Stockport and Tameside
Hours: 8:00-3:30
Contract: Through Tradewind Recruitment

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with hearing impairments? We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications to join our inclusive and caring team of educators.

About the Role

As a Support Assistant, you will work closely with children and young adults who are deaf or hearing impaired, helping them access education and social opportunities in a supportive environment. Your role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one or group support in classrooms and other settings

  • Assisting with communication using BSL and other appropriate methods

  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to create tailored support plans

  • Promoting confidence, independence, and inclusion

What We're Looking For

  • BSL qualification (minimum Level 2 required, Level 3+ preferred)

  • Experience working with children or young adults with hearing impairments is desirable

  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills

  • A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to inclusion and equality
