A fantastic opportunity has presented to work in a cosy, single-form entry school in the heart of Stockport. This full-time Year 6 teaching role will begin September 2025 and will run until the end of the academic year with the potential for permanency. The role will be paid (MPS 3-6) which will be reflective of your skills experience. Unfortunately, on this occasion the school are unable to consider ECT's.

About the Role

As the Year 6 teacher, you will be responsible for the progress and attainment of approximately 30 pupils within a mixed ability class. A substantial percentage are working at age-related but the successful teacher will need a target driven mentality to support those not meeting ARE and pushing pupils to work in Greater Depth. There is a small percentage of SEND in the class; experience writing and reviewing EHCP's is highly desirable and you will be joined by a full-time TA who is very familiar with the curriculum and will support with small group weekly interventions.

As the Year 6 teacher, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Demonstrate a secure knowledge and understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and undertake full class teaching responsibilities Including planning, assessment, pupil progress, staff meetings and report writing
  • Plan lessons in line with National curriculum standards and identity and address gaps in learning to accelerate progress and ensure all objectives are covered and revisited effectively
  • Utilise a range of teaching and learning strategies that cater for visual, audio and kinaesthetic preferences
  • Adopt an organised, structured approach to learning to achieve effective SATS preparation
  • Build a positive rapport with all pupils and create a community where pupils feel confident partaking
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to review, report and reflect on daily practice to inform future planning
  • Plan interventions with intent to address missed curriculum content and achieve rapid progress
  • Create a collaborative classroom where pupils are encouraged to share their views.

Essential Requirements:

  • You must hold QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification).
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
