Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Daventry
Full-Time | September 2025 Start | Long-Term Opportunity

Are you someone who's calm, caring, and genuinely motivated to help young people overcome challenges in their learning? Do you want to be part of a school team that makes a real impact every day?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a number of secondary schools in Daventry who are looking to recruit committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their support teams from September 2025. These are full-time, long-term positions that offer a brilliant opportunity to work closely with students who need extra guidance to thrive.

The Role:

As an SEN TA, you'll be working with students who may have a range of additional needs-such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or emotional and behavioural challenges.

Your day-to-day role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one support or small group intervention inside and outside of the classroom

  • Helping students stay engaged, on task, and confident in their learning

  • Working with teaching staff and SENCOs to adapt lessons and materials to suit individual needs

  • Supporting students in managing behaviour and building social and emotional skills

  • Being a consistent, encouraging presence for young people who need extra patience and understanding

What We're Looking For:

You don't need to be a qualified teacher-but we are looking for people who:

  • Have some experience working with children or young people with additional needs (in education, care, youth work, or similar)

  • Can stay calm and positive, even when things don't go to plan

  • Are good communicators and team players

  • Are reliable, flexible, and genuinely want to help young people succeed

  • (Bonus) Have relevant training or qualifications such as Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Team Teach

What's in It for You?

  • A full-time role in a welcoming and inclusive secondary school

  • Weekly pay at competitive rates

  • Free training and professional development via The National College

  • Regular support and career advice from your dedicated Tradewind consultant

  • A chance to build experience that could lead into teaching, therapy, pastoral work, or SEN specialisms

If you want to help students grow in confidence and feel proud of their progress-no matter how small-this could be the perfect role for you.
