Teaching Assistant - Autism Provision
Location: Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long-Term Role

A secondary school in Northampton is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their autism provision from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting students on the autism spectrum within a nurturing, structured environment designed to help them thrive both academically and socially.
About the Role:
Supporting secondary-aged students with autism in small group and one-to-one settings
Assisting with the delivery of lessons adapted to meet the individual needs of each student
Encouraging independence, routine, and communication using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables
Helping manage emotional regulation and challenging behaviour in a safe and supportive manner
Working closely with SENCOs, class teachers, and therapists to follow tailored support plans
Promoting a calm, inclusive atmosphere that helps students feel safe, understood, and confident
We're Looking For:
Someone with a genuine interest in autism, neurodiversity, and inclusive education
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are essential
Previous experience supporting students with autism or in a SEN setting is highly desirable
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A commitment to supporting every student as an individual
(Bonus) Training in areas such as Team Teach, autism awareness, or behaviour support is an advantage
