Teaching Assistant - Autism Provision
Location: Northampton
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long-Term Role

A secondary school in Northampton is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their autism provision from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting students on the autism spectrum within a nurturing, structured environment designed to help them thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

  • Supporting secondary-aged students with autism in small group and one-to-one settings

  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons adapted to meet the individual needs of each student

  • Encouraging independence, routine, and communication using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables

  • Helping manage emotional regulation and challenging behaviour in a safe and supportive manner

  • Working closely with SENCOs, class teachers, and therapists to follow tailored support plans

  • Promoting a calm, inclusive atmosphere that helps students feel safe, understood, and confident

We're Looking For:

  • Someone with a genuine interest in autism, neurodiversity, and inclusive education

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are essential

  • Previous experience supporting students with autism or in a SEN setting is highly desirable

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • A commitment to supporting every student as an individual

  • (Bonus) Training in areas such as Team Teach, autism awareness, or behaviour support is an advantage
