1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Primary School
Position: 1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester (accessible via bus, tram, on-site parking available)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-3:30 pm (term-time, long-term)
Start Date: September 2025
About the Role
You will:
- Provide dedicated, one-to-one support to a Year 2 pupil exhibiting challenging behaviours due to engagement or frustration.
- Act as a calm, constant presence, helping the child to stay focused, engaged, and integrated into the classroom routine.
- Work closely with the class teacher and senior leadership to implement behaviour‑management strategies, supporting the pupil both academically and emotionally.
What We're Looking For
We need someone who:
- Ideally has experience working 1:1 with primary-aged children, especially in behaviour-related roles, however training can be provided
- Is skilled in de‑escalation and redirection techniques, using positive reinforcement to support the child.
- Understands safeguarding procedures and holds or can obtain an enhanced DBS check.
- Shows empathy, patience, resilience, and enthusiasm for supporting a child's social, emotional, and educational development.
