Woodwork Technician
Location: Northampton

Secondary schools across Northampton are looking for reliable and skilled Woodwork Technicians to join their Design & Technology (D&T) teams from September 2025. These full-time roles are ideal for someone with a background in carpentry, joinery, or workshop support, who is keen to contribute to education in a meaningful way.
About the Role:
Support the delivery of woodwork and D&T lessons by preparing materials, tools, and resources
Maintain workshop machinery and ensure a safe, clean, and well-organised working environment
Assist teachers and students during practical sessions, offering technical guidance and promoting safe working practices
Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering materials and equipment as needed
Carry out routine safety checks on tools and machinery, maintaining accurate records
Support displays of student work and assist in whole-school events or project-based learning activities
Contribute to a culture of creativity, precision, and respect for craftsmanship
We're Looking For:
Experience in woodwork, carpentry, joinery, or a similar practical trade
A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent organisational skills
Confidence using tools, machinery, and workshop equipment (e.g. band saws, drills, sanding machines)
Awareness of workshop health & safety, and willingness to complete relevant training (e.g. COSHH, risk assessments)
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Previous experience in a school or educational environment is desirable but not essential
A DBS certificate (or willingness to apply) is required
