SANZA Teaching Agency are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a boy in year 6 who has a diagnosis of Autism, as well as SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs.
This is a great opportunity to support a young boy in his final year of primary school, and prepare him for his successful transition to secondary school in the following year. This will be a truly rewarding role, so don't miss out!
About the school: The school is located in the London Borough of Newham, with excellent transport links (buses & tubes), as well as having on site parking. It is a large, bustling primary school with a great community feel.
As a teaching assistant in this role, you will need to:
- Understand and share the child's feelings without judgement
- Show genuine care and concern for their well being
- Be calm and composed, especially when progress is slow or behaviour is challenging
- Use clear, age-appropriate language
- Build trust through honesty and respect
- Stay calm and professional in emotionally difficult situations
- Be alert to signs of neglect, abuse, or distress
- Adjust approaches based on the child's needs, mood, or circumstances
- Work effectively within changing routines or unexpected situations
- Reinforce the child's strengths and progress
- Help boost their confidence and self-esteem
