Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working with a highly regarded SEN school in Northampton that caters to pupils aged 11-18 with a range of complex needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and associated learning difficulties. The school provides a nurturing, structured, and therapeutic environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join the school's supportive and dynamic team. This is an incredibly rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping students overcome barriers to learning, manage their emotions, and build confidence and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group pastoral support for students, focusing on emotional well-being, behaviour, and engagement.
• Work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to implement support plans tailored to individual needs.
• Respond to behaviour incidents in a calm and restorative manner, promoting a positive and respectful school culture.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Support the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils, adhering to school and national policies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working in a school or youth support setting, particularly with vulnerable or high-needs students.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
• A calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach, even in challenging situations.
• An understanding of SEN, trauma-informed practice, or mental health support (training can be provided).
