Physics Graduate - Science Technician | Secondary School | Finchley | ASAP Start

Are you a recent Physics graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school science department?

Do you have a passion for science and want to support the next generation of learners in a practical, laboratory-based role?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Finchley that is seeking a Science Technician, ideally with a background in Physics, to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term position working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with an opportunity to become permenant in future. This role would be perfect for science graduates interested in education, lab work, or a future in teaching or research.


About the Role:

As a Science Technician, you will:

  • Support the science department in preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons, particularly in Physics.

  • Assist teachers during practical demonstrations and ensure experiments run safely and effectively.

  • Maintain and manage lab equipment, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.

  • Help organise and store chemicals and scientific apparatus appropriately.

  • Support with setting up physics experiments across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5 (A-Level).

  • Provide general administrative and technical support to the science faculty.


What We're Looking For:

  • A recent Physics graduate (or closely related subject).

  • Strong organisational and practical skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • A good understanding of lab safety and scientific protocols.

  • A team player who is reliable, proactive, and enthusiastic.

  • An interest in working in education or a science-related field.

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
