Outdoor Education Teacher | Alternative Provision | Blackpool

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at a nurturing alternative provision in Blackpool. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for either a qualified teacher or an experienced instructor who is committed to using the power of the outdoors to inspire and support young people.


The Role: Outdoor Education Teacher, Blackpool

As our Outdoor Education Teacher, you will design and deliver engaging, practical, and hands-on sessions in an outdoor environment. You will be responsible for providing a curriculum that not only teaches practical skills but also builds confidence, teamwork, and resilience in students who have struggled in a traditional classroom setting. .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lesson Delivery: Planning and leading a variety of outdoor education activities (e.g., bushcraft, navigation, team-building exercises).

  • Skills Development: Teaching practical skills while fostering students' social, emotional, and personal growth.

  • Well-being: Using the therapeutic benefits of nature to improve students' mental health and self-esteem.

  • Risk Management: Ensuring all activities are conducted safely and in line with risk assessments.

Located in Blackpool, our alternative provision specialises in providing a holistic and supportive education for young people who have faced challenges in mainstream settings. Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not essential. We will consider candidates with a relevant background.

  • Essential:

    • Proven experience working with young people in an outdoor or youth-focused setting.

    • A genuine passion for outdoor education and its benefits.

    • Excellent communication and rapport-building skills.

    • A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach.

  • Highly Desirable:

    • Relevant qualifications in outdoor pursuits (e.g., Mountain Training, Bushcraft, First Aid).

    • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs (e.g., SEN/SEMH).
