About the Role
Our Towcester AP school seeks an energetic, committed Deputy Centre Manager / Functional Skills Tutor. This dual role combines assistant leadership of the centre with delivering high‑quality functional skills teaching to KS3 & KS4 pupils. You will support the Centre Manager in operational oversight, staff supervision, and strategic initiatives, and also teach functional skills in e.g. Maths, English or ICT.
Key Responsibilities
Deputise for the Centre Manager: help manage staff, oversee daily operations, behaviour, welfare, systems and processes.
Plan, deliver and assess functional skills programmes in English, Maths, ICT or similar; adapt to students' levels and needs.
Support behaviour management and student engagement; work to build confidence, attendance, and achievement.
Participate in curriculum development, ensuring functional skills integrate with other learning.
Monitor progress of students; set targets; evaluate and report.
Collaborate with staff, parents, external agencies to support student learning and wellbeing.
Person Specification
Qualified teacher / strong tutor in functional skills; knowledge of KS3 & KS4 functional skills curriculum.
Leadership experience or strong potential; ability to support management and lead by example.
Excellent teaching skills, adaptability, patience and resilience.
Strong communicator; ability to support others; clear focus on outcomes for young people.
