Teaching Assistant

Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire

About the Role

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Teaching Assistant to support students at Key Stage 3 & 4 in our homely, inclusive AP school in Towcester. You will work in small classes, supporting both academic and emotional development. The role involves collaborating closely with teachers and other staff to ensure all students get the attention and support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons; support individual and small group learning.

  • Provide pastoral, behavioural and emotional support to students; monitor and encourage positive behaviour.

  • Prepare learning materials; adapt resources to meet diverse needs.

  • Observe students, record progress, feedback to teachers; help with assessment and tracking.

  • Supervise students during non‑classroom times (breaks, transitions) as required.

Person Specification

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Diploma in Education, or equivalent).

  • Experience working in SEN / AP / behaviour‑challenging settings highly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship‑building skills.

  • Empathy, patience, reliability, and ability to maintain high standards.
