Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Secondary School, Barking & Dagenham
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only

We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school in Barking & Dagenham. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with SEN, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum.

  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions.

  • Support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and social, emotional or behavioural needs.

  • Promote independence, build confidence and encourage positive engagement in learning.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (in school or other settings).

  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping students thrive.

  • Can work effectively in a team as well as independently.

  • Has excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
