SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time (Dagenham Primary School, Academic Year)

Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working with a welcoming, inclusive two-form entry primary school in Dagenham. We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs on a full-time basis for the academic year.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs. The school prides itself on its nurturing ethos, strong teamwork, and commitment to helping every child thrive.

If you have experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), including non-verbal communication, ADHD, or SEMH, this could be the perfect role for you. Training in PECS is desirable but not essential.


Job Summary

  • Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Dagenham - accessible by car and local public transport

  • Pay: £90 - £100 per day (PAYE)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Working Hours: (8:30 - 3:15) Full-time, term time only


Requirements for an SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Experience supporting children with:

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly non-verbal children

    • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Desirable: experience or training in PECS

  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take direction from class teachers and the SENCO

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)


Compliance Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)

  • Provide a full CV covering employment history with any gaps explained

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK

  • Supply two professional references covering the last two years

  • Provide proof of address and original documents for identity and safeguarding checks
