SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Lewisham
Start: Immediate | Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term | Pay: Competitive (via PAYE)
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This full-time, long-term role starts immediately and offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND in mainstream lessons
Adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual needs
Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement learning and behaviour plans
Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
Requirements:
Previous experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, or similar)
Experience supporting students with SEND (essential)
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
Desirable:
SEND-related qualifications or training (e.g., Level 2/3 TA qualification)
Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
