Seeking Dedicated Pupil Support Workers in Blackpool
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on student well being and learning? We are urgently looking for proactive and compassionate Pupil Support Workers and Teaching Assistants to join welcoming school environments across Blackpool and the surrounding areas.
This critical role involves working directly with students, often on a 1:1 or small group basis, who require extra support with their behaviour, emotional well being, and classroom engagement. We have vacancies available now and confirmed roles starting in January 2026.
The Role: Supporting Students to Thrive
As a Pupil Support Worker, your focus will be on nurturing the individual student and helping them overcome barriers to learning. Key responsibilities include:
Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or specific behavioural challenges.
Assisting the class teacher in managing the inclusion of all pupils.
Implementing behaviour support plans and strategies to promote positive conduct and engagement.
Working with students across various year groups, potentially spanning both primary and secondary phases.
Offering support during intervention sessions or unstructured times, such as lunch breaks.
What We Look for in a Candidate
We are seeking individuals who are empathetic, highly organised, and committed to student development. Successful applicants will ideally have:
Prior experience as a Pupil Support Worker, Teaching Assistant (TA), or in a relevant youth support role.
Knowledge and understanding of working with pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour.
A firm but fair approach to behaviour management and a desire to build strong student relationships.
Excellent communication skills, essential for liaising with staff, parents, and external agencies.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
