SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Newham, East London
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Dependent on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school in Newham. This role will involve working 1:1 with a student with special educational needs, providing tailored support both within our specialist Bridge Department and across mainstream classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve personalised learning goals.

  • Work closely with the Bridge Department to deliver structured interventions and support social, emotional, and academic development.

  • Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons and materials to meet individual learning needs.

  • Promote inclusion and encourage the student's participation in both classroom and wider school life.

  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and contribute to progress reviews.

  • Foster independence, confidence, and positive relationships with peers.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting students with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.

  • Be patient, reliable, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people.

  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to promoting inclusion and wellbeing.

  • Hold relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, SEN training) - desirable but not essential.
