Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant - SEMH School, Enfield

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist SEMH school in Enfield seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from January 2026.

The school supports pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, using modern, research-informed approaches rooted in attachment theory and neurobiological understanding. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where every pupil feels heard, understood, and motivated to succeed.

Your Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and associated needs

  • Help pupils achieve targets set out in their EHCPs through personalised interventions

  • Promote wellbeing, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning

  • Work alongside teachers, the SENDCo and pastoral team to remove barriers to learning

  • Support a creative, flexible curriculum that includes integrated sensory breaks

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs (school or similar setting)

  • A calm, empathetic and consistent approach

  • A willingness to learn and apply modern, trauma-informed strategies

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
