Design & Technology Technician - Southwark

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Southwark. This is a full-time, long-term position starting immediately, offering an exciting opportunity to support hands-on learning across multiple DT disciplines.

About the Role:
As a DT Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the Design & Technology department. You'll prepare materials and equipment, support practical lessons, and help maintain a safe and creative workshop environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain tools, machinery, and materials for DT lessons

  • Support teachers and students during practical sessions in areas such as woodwork, metalwork, graphics, or food technology

  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times

  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and managing resources

  • Contribute to displays and school events showcasing students' work

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a similar practical/technical role

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • A proactive, safety-conscious, and hands-on approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
