Job Description
The Virtual Teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality, engaging online education to students who cannot access mainstream settings due to medical needs, anxiety, or specific Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) barriers. This role requires expertise in differentiated online teaching, behaviour management strategies suitable for a virtual environment, and proficiency in digital learning platforms.
A Digital Classroom, A Real Impact
We are seeking a dedicated and technologically proficient Virtual Teacher to join our compassionate Alternative Provision (AP) team, focusing on students in the Accrington area. This is a crucial, remote role dedicated to reaching students who cannot attend physical school due to complex needs, including severe anxiety, medical conditions, or other Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) barriers.
You will be instrumental in ensuring continuity of education, building strong virtual rapport, and managing student engagement in an online setting. If you are passionate about blending education with therapeutic understanding, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities:
As our Virtual Teacher, you will:
Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality synchronous (live) and asynchronous (pre-recorded) lessons across KS3 and KS4, using platforms like Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams.
Differentiate Remotely: Expertly adapt curriculum content and utilize digital tools to meet the individual learning and emotional needs of students with SEMH.
Manage Online Behaviour: Implement effective, positive behaviour management and motivation strategies suited to a virtual classroom environment.
Assess and Track: Conduct online assessments, track academic progress remotely, and provide detailed feedback to students, parents, and the AP leadership team.
Safeguard: Monitor student well-being and engagement during virtual sessions, immediately escalating any safeguarding or welfare concerns to the relevant DSL.
