Psychology Graduate - SEMH School | Blackpool
Location: Blackpool, Lancashire

£90 - £115.89 PER DAY
Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain hands-on experience working with children and young people with complex learning needs and SEMH difficulties? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate graduate to join a specialist primary-to-secondary SEMH school in Blackpool. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience for careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or Child Development.
What You'll Be Doing:
Support students with complex learning, communication, and behavioural needs
Work closely with the SENCO to implement individual education and behaviour plans (IEPs)
Collaborate with speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, and other multi-disciplinary professionals
Deliver targeted interventions to develop emotional regulation, communication, and social skills
Assist teachers in adapting materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs
Observe, record, and analyse pupil progress and behaviour patterns
Promote positive mental health, emotional wellbeing, and resilience
Skills & Experience You'll Gain:
Practical understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and sensory processing differences
Experience applying psychological theory in real-world educational settings
Skills in behaviour analysis, data collection, and progress tracking
Exposure to therapeutic and communication approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, Zones of Regulation)
Multi-disciplinary teamwork experience supporting holistic child development
Strong empathy, patience, active listening, and emotional regulation
Foundations in report writing, reflective practice, and trauma-informed approaches
What You'll Need:
Psychology Degree
Experience working with children, learning difficulties, or vulnerable people (desirable)
