SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Westminster

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a high-performing primary school in Westminster looking for a reliable, confident and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to support small groups of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. This is a full-time role in a well-led school that values structure, teamwork and strong relationships.
Role Overview
- Leading small-group support sessions for pupils with SEMH needs, including emotional regulation, behaviour challenges, anxiety and trauma
- Delivering targeted interventions that build resilience, social awareness and problem-solving skills
- Using clear, consistent behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies
- Adapting tasks and resources to keep pupils focused, engaged and progressing
- Promoting teamwork, positive peer interactions and growing independence
- Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and external specialists to keep support plans on track
What We're Looking For
- Solid experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs
- A calm, steady presence with strong communication and boundary-setting skills
- Transferable experience from youth work, coaching, mentoring, care or similar roles
- Confidence in managing group dynamics and maintaining a structured environment
- Willingness to learn new approaches and take on ongoing CPD
- Enhanced DBS, full employment history and the right to work in the UK
