Teacher of French
Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: February 26
A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Sunderland is seeking a passionate, adaptable, and skilled Teacher of French to join their Modern Foreign Languages department on a full-time maternity cover from February 26. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across KS3 and KS4, fostering a love of language learning, cultural understanding, and confident communication.
Role Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
* Create a supportive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages confidence and progress.
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support or stretch.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support achievement.
* Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring they feel confident and well-prepared.
* Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and continuous improvement within the MFL department.
* Support enrichment opportunities such as language clubs, cultural events, or international-themed activities.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Experience teaching French at KS3-KS4.
* Strong subject knowledge with the ability to bring French language and culture to life.
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills, with a commitment to raising student attainment.
