Job Title: School Caretaker (Full-Time, 5 Days per Week)
Location: Secondary Schools across Lewisham

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and committed School Caretaker to join our team, working full-time across a number of secondary schools in Lewisham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming environments and is looking to build a long-term career within education.

About the Role

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school sites, ensuring that buildings and grounds are well maintained, secure and fully operational for students, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and securing school buildings, including alarm systems

  • General maintenance, minor repairs and health & safety checks

  • Ensuring the site is clean, safe and well presented at all times

  • Monitoring contractors and deliveries

  • Supporting with room setups for events and school activities

  • Responding promptly to site-related issues and emergencies

What We're Looking For

  • Previous caretaking, site management or facilities experience (preferred but not essential)

  • Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills

  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures

  • Reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently

  • Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a school community
