Primary School Premises Assistant
Location: Hillingdon, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Duration: Until the end of the academic year (minimum), with potential to extend
Working Pattern: Split shift, alternating weekly

  • Week 1: 6:30am - 2:30pm

  • Week 2: 10:30am - 6:30pm

We are currently seeking a highly reliable and proactive Premises Assistant to join a welcoming and well-maintained primary school in Hillingdon, West London, from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced premises professional to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy school environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working as a premises assistant, caretaker, or site staff member within a school or college. However, the school is open to considering candidates with relevant premises or facilities management experience from a non-school setting, provided they demonstrate a clear understanding of health and safety and the practical demands of a school environment.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting the smooth daily operation of the school site, including opening and securing the premises

  • Carrying out basic maintenance, minor repairs, and health and safety checks

  • Liaising with staff, contractors, visitors, and external agencies in a professional and accommodating manner

  • Ordering equipment, tools, and materials required for the upkeep of the school

  • Working closely with, and supporting, the cleaning team to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained

  • Assisting with room set-ups for school events, meetings, and activities

  • Monitoring site security, alarms, and access systems

  • Supporting compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and COSHH where appropriate
