Primary School Premises Assistant
Location: Hillingdon, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Duration: Until the end of the academic year (minimum), with potential to extend
Working Pattern: Split shift, alternating weekly
Week 1: 6:30am - 2:30pm
Week 2: 10:30am - 6:30pm
We are currently seeking a highly reliable and proactive Premises Assistant to join a welcoming and well-maintained primary school in Hillingdon, West London, from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced premises professional to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy school environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working as a premises assistant, caretaker, or site staff member within a school or college. However, the school is open to considering candidates with relevant premises or facilities management experience from a non-school setting, provided they demonstrate a clear understanding of health and safety and the practical demands of a school environment.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
Supporting the smooth daily operation of the school site, including opening and securing the premises
Carrying out basic maintenance, minor repairs, and health and safety checks
Liaising with staff, contractors, visitors, and external agencies in a professional and accommodating manner
Ordering equipment, tools, and materials required for the upkeep of the school
Working closely with, and supporting, the cleaning team to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained
Assisting with room set-ups for school events, meetings, and activities
Monitoring site security, alarms, and access systems
Supporting compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and COSHH where appropriate
