SEN Teacher - Secondary (Maths & English)

Location: International School - SEN Department
Borough: Westminster
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Role: SEN Teacher / Secondary Tutor
Salary: M1-M6 (dependent on experience)


Job Overview

An international school in Westminster is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join its SEN department. This full-time role involves delivering 1:1 teaching in Maths and English to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs.

You will plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons in line with students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting learners with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and Dyslexia. Working closely with SENCOs, teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in helping students achieve both academic progress and personal development.

The successful candidate will create a structured, nurturing learning environment that builds confidence, promotes independence and supports emotional regulation. You will regularly monitor progress, set achievable targets and provide meaningful feedback to support each student's individual journey.


Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or proven experience as an SEN Tutor at secondary level

  • Strong subject knowledge in secondary Maths and English

  • Experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and Dyslexia

  • Ability to differentiate and individualise lessons effectively

  • Strong behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

  • Experience working within an SEN or specialist setting (highly desirable)


Compliance

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two professional references

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and/or SEN training certificates

  • Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection training
