Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working with a specialist SEN school in Daventry, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to support students across Secondary and Further Education (FE) age ranges.

This rewarding role involves working closely with young people who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including moderate to severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and associated behavioural or communication challenges. You may work one-to-one or in small groups, offering tailored support that meets individual education, health and care plans (EHCPs). You will collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent and meaningful support throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing emotional, behavioural, and learning support to students with complex needs

  • Supporting students during lessons, transitions, and social times

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and self-regulation

  • Acting as a trusted adult and positive role model

  • Supporting preparation for adulthood, independence, and life skills, particularly for FE-aged students

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs (education, care, youth work, or similar backgrounds welcome)

  • Be patient, resilient, empathetic, and proactive

  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Be passionate about inclusive education and making a real difference

This role is perfect for aspiring teachers, psychologists, therapists, or anyone seeking meaningful experience within SEN education.
