Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Newham
Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: ASAP / September Start
Contract: Full-time | Term-time
Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
A supportive primary/secondary school in Newham is seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
Role Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with challenging behaviour
Supporting positive behaviour strategies and behaviour intervention plans
Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and social skills development
Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
Promoting a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and interventions
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience supporting pupils with behavioural needs (school, SEND, youth work, or care setting)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
A genuine passion for supporting young people
Desirable (Not Essential)
Team Teach / behaviour management training
Experience with SEMH, ADHD, or ASD
Background in youth work, mentoring, or sports coaching
