An ambitious and friendly Primary School in Wigan is looking for an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join their Key Stage 1 team starting this February. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who thrives on creating a vibrant, play-based learning environment that bridges the gap between Reception and Key Stage 1.
The Role
Following the February half-term, you will take over a bright and energetic Year 1 class. Your goal will be to foster a love for learning during this crucial transitional year, focusing on core literacy and numeracy skills while maintaining a creative curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEN and EAL.
Phonics Leadership: Lead daily high-quality Phonics sessions (Little Wandle/Read Write Inc.) to prepare students for the Phonics Screening Check.
Continuous Provision: Maintain a stimulating classroom environment that encourages independent exploration and "learning through doing."
Assessment: Use formative and summative assessments to track pupil progress and inform future planning.
Pastoral Care: Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to ensure a supportive transition for the children mid-year.
About You
We are looking for a teacher who is not only a great practitioner but also a team player who will immerse themselves in the school community.
Qualifications: Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply.
Expertise: A strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and effective Phonics instruction.
Approach: A "can-do" attitude with a focus on positive behaviour management and inclusive teaching.
Flexibility: The ability to hit the ground running and quickly build rapport with a new class.
What the School Offers
A warm, community-focused school with a "family" feel.
