Degree Qualified Cover Supervisor - SEMH School (Wigan)

Are you a degree-qualified Cover Supervisor with strong behaviour and classroom management skills?
Do you have a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are working on behalf of a well-established SEMH school in Wigan, catering for students across Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. This is a long-term role, starting as soon as possible until July 2026, with the potential to move from temporary to permanent.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Provide cover for absent staff across the school

  • Build strong relationships with students and staff

  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies

  • Ensure learning is purposeful, engaging and well-managed

You will be supported by a committed and collaborative team, receive a comprehensive induction, access to ongoing CPD, and have the opportunity to progress into teacher training.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be confident covering lessons across a range of subjects

  • Adapt quickly to different classroom situations

  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills

  • Be a motivated, collaborative individual who can lead and support students effectively

Essential Requirements:

  • A degree-level qualification (or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths

  • At least 6 months' experience working with students aged 11-16

  • A positive attitude and genuine desire to work in education

  • Confidence managing behaviour in a classroom setting

The school is based in Wigan, with excellent access to major motorways, strong public transport links, and onsite parking available.
