1:1 Teaching Assistant (SEN Specialist)

Location: Blackpool (Academy)

Contract: Temporary, Term-Time Only

Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30

Salary: Paid to Scale (Pro Rata)

The Opportunity:

Are you a dedicated SEN professional looking for a deeply rewarding, long-term commitment? Our vibrant Blackpool Academy is seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a wonderful Year 1 child who is autistic and non-verbal.

We are not just looking for a temporary fix; we are looking for a committed partner to join this pupil on their journey throughout their primary education, providing the stability and specialised support they need to thrive. This is a long term committed role expected to last 2 academic years as a minimum.

The Role & Requirements

As a 1:1 TA, you will be responsible for the daily educational and emotional support of a non-verbal pupil. You will work closely with the Class Teacher and SENDCo to adapt the curriculum and environment to meet the pupil's specific needs.

To be successful, you must have:

  • Prior SEN Experience: Proven experience working with children on the Autistic Spectrum.

  • Non-Verbal Communication Knowledge: Experience with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices is highly desirable but not essential.

  • Commitment: A desire to stay with this pupil as they progress through their primary years is essential.
