Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire

Salary: Competitive daily rate (experience dependent)

We are working with a secondary school in Northampton that is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is resilient, empathetic and committed to helping students improve behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.

About the Role:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring for students with behavioural, emotional or social needs

  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, resilience and positive coping strategies

  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative and trauma-informed approaches

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, SENCOs and safeguarding teams to implement behaviour support plans

  • Monitor, record and report on student behaviour, progress and engagement

  • Promote positive behaviour, attendance and engagement across the school

  • Help create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs

  • A calm, assertive and supportive approach in high-pressure situations

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a school-based pastoral team

  • Experience in youth work, mentoring, pastoral support, education or similar roles (desirable but not essential)

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
