Learning Support Assistant - Northampton

We are proud to be working closely with a number of supportive and inclusive secondary schools across Northampton who are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their teams as soon as possible. This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, proactive, and committed to supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN). Whether you already have school-based experience or are looking to begin a career in education, this role offers hands-on experience in a nurturing and well-supported environment.

The Role

  • Delivering one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs

  • Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and other SEN

  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, classroom organisation, and adapted resources

  • Encouraging student confidence, independence, and active participation in learning

  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day

  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a genuine passion for working with young people, particularly those with SEN

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm approach to challenges

  • Communicates effectively and builds strong relationships with students and staff

  • Is flexible, dependable, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Experience in education, SEN, care, or youth work is desirable but not essential

  • Is eager to learn, develop, and grow within an educational setting
