Year 5 Primary Teacher

Start Date: Monday, February 23, 2026 (Post-Half Term)

Duration: Full-time until the end of the Summer Term

Pay Rate: £150 - £216 per day (Depending on experience)

Location: Wigan (WN postcode area)

Are you a passionate educator ready to inspire a bright and energetic Year 5 cohort? A welcoming and "Good" rated primary school in Wigan is looking for a dedicated teacher to join their team for the remainder of the academic year.

The Role

Following the February half-term break, you will take full classroom responsibility for a Year 5 class. This is a crucial period as the children prepare for their final year of primary education, requiring a teacher who can balance high academic expectations with a supportive, engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Delivery: Create and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum.

Assessment: Monitor pupil progress and use data to inform future planning and interventions.

Engagement: Foster a positive learning culture that encourages curiosity and confidence.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Year 6 transition team and support staff to ensure a smooth curriculum flow.

What We're Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Proven experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (Upper KS2 experience is a plus).

A strong understanding of the Year 5 curriculum and assessment frameworks.

Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build quick rapport with students.

A commitment to the inclusive and community-focused ethos of Wigan schools.

This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
