Job Description

Are you a passionate and inspiring Reception Teacher ready for an exciting new role? We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our dedicated team from April 2026 on a full-time, term-time basis (Monday - Friday).

If you have a genuine love for nurturing young minds, a creative approach to early years learning, and are committed to making every lesson count, we'd love to hear from you!

As a Reception Teacher, you'll play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our youngest learners. You'll be responsible for planning, lesson and class preparation, marking, and will work collaboratively with all colleagues to promote the effective delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and maximize children's achievement.

We are recruiting for this role across multiple primary schools in Blackburn, Darwen and Accrington. You will be matched to a setting based on your location and success at interview! As this is a full teaching role, you will be paid to scale (based on school specification of M scale) between £168 - £261 per day.

We're looking for someone who can wholeheartedly embrace the following responsibilities:

  • Delivering outstanding teaching to all pupils in your class, tailoring your approach to their individual educational needs within the EYFS framework.
  • Creating a well-ordered and secure environment that fosters the educational well-being and holistic development of every child.
  • Making effective use of ICT to enhance learning and teaching across the curriculum.
  • Undertaking careful planning and delivery of the EYFS curriculum, ensuring it's engaging, play-based, and challenging.
  • Conducting careful and ongoing assessment of pupils' learning to inform your planning and interventions, including observations and statutory assessments.
  • Differentiating the curriculum to match tasks and activities to the diverse abilities of children, allowing them to progress at their optimal pace and level.
  • Completing all assessments and records in a timely fashion, adhering to school policy.
  • Working collaboratively with school leaders to track individual pupil progress and implement timely interventions where needed.
  • Developing and teaching individual pupil plans (IEPs) for children with specific needs, in conjunction with school leaders.
  • Ensuring equal opportunities are actively implemented in the classroom and throughout the school.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with parents, actively involving them in the classroom and the learning process.
  • Actively participating in planning and staff meetings, contributing to whole-school development.
  • Contributing to the whole school ethos by taking a leading role in classroom displays and designated whole-school areas as agreed with the Headteacher.
  • Contributing towards the development and implementation of whole-school policies.
  • Cooperating with other staff and professional agencies as appropriate to meet the needs of the children.
  • Engaging in ongoing in-service training for your continued professional development as a teacher.
Undertaking other duties as reasonably assigned by the Headteacher to ensure the smooth running of the school.
