Job Description

Transition from HLTA to Teacher

Monday - Friday

£26,500

Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support? Do you feel ready to take the next step in your career and lead your own classroom, but want a setting that prioritises nurturing over numbers?

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our brand-new specialist middle school. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between support and teaching by leading a small, focused class of just four children.

The Role: Impact Where It Matters Most

In this position, you won't just be "delivering a curriculum"-you will be crafting a lifeline. Our students have unique profiles, often involving ASD, ADHD, and significant anxiety. They require a leader who understands that emotional regulation is the foundation of all learning.

  • Small Class Mastery: Take full responsibility for a class of 4 students, allowing for a level of differentiation and personal connection impossible in mainstream settings.
  • Pathway to Teaching: We are looking for someone with the drive to transition into a full teaching role. We provide the environment and mentorship to help you thrive as you step up.
  • Holistic Growth: Work alongside therapists and specialists to implement bespoke interventions designed to foster resilience and social success.

About Our School

Opened for the 2024-25 academic year, our school was intentionally designed to be a sanctuary for students with EHCPs. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all education. Instead, we offer:

  • A Nurturing Environment: A community where every child is valued and every staff member is supported.
  • A Bespoke Approach: Tailored journeys for every pupil, focusing on personal growth alongside academic progress.
  • Innovation: As a new school, you will have the chance to help shape our culture and classroom practices from the ground up.

Who You Are

  • An experienced HLTA or an Unqualified Teacher with a deep background in SEMH, ASD, or ADHD.
  • A "calm in the storm" presence who can navigate complex emotional needs with empathy and professional boundaries.
  • Ambitious and ready to take the lead in a classroom setting while being supported by a leadership team that recognises and values your development.
  • A firm believer that every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves to thrive.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of a mission-driven team at the start of an exciting journey. You will have the autonomy to make a real difference in the lives of four young people who truly need your expertise.

Ready to take the leap? If you are a supportive, grounded professional ready to move into teaching within a specialised environment, we want to hear from you.
